DDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian Cinema.

 

2. Sholay – 286 weeks

Release Date: 15th August 1975

Star: Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri,  Amjad Khan

By some accounts, the film is the most popular and highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

 

3. Kismet (1943) – 187 weeks

Release Date: 1943

Star: Devika Rani and Sashadhar Mukherjee

This was the first film ever to show premarital pregnancy, a villain, and a double role, on-screen.

 

4. Mughal-e-Azam – 150 weeks

Release Date: 5th August 1960

Star: Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote

It is one of the most expensive movies of its time and created a benchmark in all possible departments.

 

5. Barsaat (1949) – 100 weeks

Release Date: 21st April 1949

Star: Raj Kapoor and Nargis.

Barsaat was one of the first major hits directed by Raj Kapoor.

 

6. Mohabbatein – 50 weeks

Release Date: 27th October 2000

Star: Amitabh & Shahrukh Khan

This film was the highest-grossing film of the year 2000, worldwide.

 

7. Maine Pyar Kiya – 50 weeks

Release Date: 29th December 1989

Star: Salman Khan and Bhagyashree

In this movie, Salman debuted as a lead actor.

 

8. Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai – 50 weeks

Release Date: 14th January 2000

Star: Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel

The romantic thriller was added to Limca Book of Records for the highest number of awards won by a Bollywood film.

 

9. Raja Hindustani – 50 weeks

Release Date: 15th November 1996

Star: Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor

Aamir Khan won the Filmfare award in the best actor male category after being nominated for it for 8 years consecutively.

 

10. Hum Aapke Hai Koun…! – 50 weeks

Release Date: 5th August 1994

Star: Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.

The film has been given the title of “the biggest blockbuster of the modern era” by BoxOfficeIndia.
