The date of the players’ auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has been declared recently. The auction will be held on 18th  February 2021, and Chennai has been selected as the venue for the auction. All the teams have already released some of their players in the transfer window. They can participate in the auction with the remaining balance of their auction wallet. Kings XI Punjab has the highest remaining value of 53.2 cr. , while  Kolkata Knight Riders has the least amount of money remaining in their wallet, 10.85 cr.

KKR in the last two IPL tournaments could not qualify for the playoffs of 2019 and 2020 consecutively, as they finished on the 5th position in both the editions. Last year they struggled throughout the tournament and couldn’t even make a proper team formation of 11 players. They changed  Dinesh Karthik as their captain and appointed Eoin Morgan for the role in the middle of the tournament. Moreover, the top order, except for Subhuman Gill, was struggling to get runs quickly throughout the league. More or less they retained the same squad and released a total of 5 players including names like Tom Banton, Chris Green. This year they might look for a power hitter in the middle order and may bid for Glenn Maxwell. Although last year Maxwell’s performance was not at par, in this format of the game he is always dangerous. Another speculation is that they can go for Alex Carrey to play him as an opener alongside  Gill. Carrey, who recently is in great touch in BBL, can be a handy pick. With the remaining balance, KKR can buy a maximum of 8 players including two overseas players. The auction will be telecasted on Star Sports and Hotstar.
