The way of life for youngsters most effectively get shaped by Colleges and Universities. The continuous struggle of living gets encountered with the reflection of capabilities acquired through learning and corollary unlearning of the mistakes done prior and simultaneous difficulties faced earlier. Such significance gets evoked through nothing other than experience. This process has its root in college life and the education received consistently. A year has passed, West Bengal cannot find the attachment of colleges and universities to their livelihood. During the lockdown, everyone got habituated with the idea of staying alone and often said ‘peaceful’. But, the peace that lies in socio-cultural life is completely forgotten.

Now, we youngsters are more likely to be engaged with social media, on the phone 24*7 or watching Netflix. But can technology compensate for activities and practical learning? Can the technical support counter interactive learning? Most importantly, in a land of ‘unity in diversity’, can all of the students avail such a medium? Even if they do, are all the peripheral areas of our regions able to support such communication channels efficiently? Then how do we actually expect our way of life to be shaped? Ourselves, alone?!

None of us can deny the mental pressure and problems that came up with the loneliness amidst the lockdown. Each of us has different ways of coping with it. But, what strengthens the mechanism is certainly the social support. Such support can be attained through education and interaction. While such a process is stalled, the mechanism does fall heavy on us.

Besides, the self-centrism that gets evoked from such a scenario is definitely harmful to the mass. It curtails the purpose of getting together and living together as a support to one another. It doesn’t allow one to see the needs of others and what is the basic premise to focus on as a responsible citizen for our fellow citizens. The notion of ‘unity’ somewhat gets diluted by individualism.

When young blood is concerned, co-existence is important and thus our colleges and university premises, giving us more reasons to be responsible and mature at the same time, for the betterment of our future, the future of ‘society as a whole.
