Besan – Almost all the Indian households are familiar with the term besan. Besan means gram flour or chickpea flour. The flour is used as a staple food ingredient in the Indian subcontinent. It’s used to make a variety of dishes. Apart from being used just as cooking ingredients, it’s highly used as a homemade skincare product. Before all these high-end cosmetics have spread all over the market, this besan is widely used by grandmothers and elderly people as one of the ingredients for getting healthy glowing acne and pimple-free skin.

Besan or gram flour has many nutritious health benefits. And whether you consume it or apply it on your face and skin, it’s going to give you positive results.

The fiber-rich chickpea flour helps in cholesterol reduction. It contains polyunsaturated fatty acid, which helps lowers cholesterol levels. Besan is also rich in potassium, vitamin, minerals, and fiber thereby it promotes heart health. It is a healthy alternative to gluten. It regulates high blood pressure as its low on sodium. Also, it strengthens bones as its high in calcium.

1. Fight acne with Besan

Besan is a very good alternative for acne removal medicines. Besan contains zinc which helps fight the infections which may cause acne. Acne can also be due to breakouts. And the breakouts can be due to imbalanced blood sugar levels. Gram flour can prevent breakouts.

A face pack can be made with gram flour, i.e. besan for reducing the acne issue. On a bowl, mix two equal parts of gram flour or besan and turmeric. Then add lemon juice and raw honey to it. Mix it well and apply it to your dampened make-up free clean face and neck. Leave it for ten minutes. Rinse it with lukewarm water. This will reduce your acne and give you clear skin.

2. Removes Tan

Besan is a wonderful tan removing agent. It naturally removes tan. Mix one tablespoon of lemon juice, one tablespoon of yogurt, a pinch of turmeric to four to five tablespoon of besan (gram flour). Apply this face mask on your face and neck until it dries. Rinse it up with cool water. Apply this mask regularly before the bath to get better results.

3. It removes excess oil from the skin

If you have oily skin and want to get rid of that extra oil on your face, then besan might be beneficial for you. You can make a simple face mask with just besan and yogurt. Raw milk can also be used instead of yogurt. Apply on your face and neck and rinse it off with cold water. This face pack is beneficial for removing oil.

4. Helps in skin exfoliation

Besan is used as a natural body scrub.  It helps in skin exfoliation. Grounded oats and cornflour mixed with besan and raw milk can create an excellent facial scrub paste on your skin. This scrub paste helps remove dry skin cells, dirt, oiliness, and removes dead skin cells.

5. Offers instant fairness

Dark spots and dull skin can be removed with besan. Just mix one tablespoon of grounded orange peel, half a teaspoon of malai with four teaspoons of besan. Apply this mask to your face and neck for fifteen minutes and then rinse with cold water.

6. Lightens dark spots of arms and neck

Due to exposure under the sun for long hours along with dirt and pollution, our body gets darkened especially on the arms and neck. To cure the skin of darkening, besan can be to the rescue. A mixture of besan, raw milk, and lemon juice can help to lighten the skin. The application is simple. Just add four teaspoons of besan with one teaspoon of milk and lemon juice mix it well and apply that paste to your face. Scrub it gently in circular motions and let it dry.

7. Removes dandruff

If you have dandruff, then besan can also help cure that. Just apply six tablespoons of besan with water and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse it with cold water.
