Spread the love

The city of joy is not just known for food, feast, and joy but love. That’s right! Kolkatans value love as much as they savor Maach Bhat. You will find love (for the city and among the lovebirds) in every corner of Kolkata.

Right from traveling in local trains, to sitting close in slow-moving trams, from sitting by the banks of Ganga to enjoying delicious street food together, here love is found in every bit. In fact, in Kolkata Valentine’s day is celebrated twice, unlike any other part of the world. The chaos and glam of Saraswati Puja being the first followed by the actual Valentine’s.

Why is Dating a no big deal in Kolkata?

Because if you have grown up here and are accustomed to the culture, you know, it is dirt cheap to have a wonderful date in Kolkata. Why? For the simple reason that everything is cheap here. If not, we have the cheaper versions of the expensive ones here in Kolkata.

Reason 1-

Tasty and Cheap Food

Kolkata is the only place in India, where so many varieties of food are found. Right from Phuchka to Chinese of China Town the food is so mouth-watering and available at cheap prices. Such that the road to a person’s heart through the tummy can actually be as easy here.

Reason 2-

You do not have to look for lavish places to sit hand in hand and spend some quality time. The city is a den of lakes, parks, ghats, welcoming the lovebirds with open arms day and evening.

Reason 3-

Because Karwa Chauth Vrat is too overrated but Durga Puja Ashtami Anjali together is next level. Plus, the five days of Durga Puja are a window to find love or celebrate new found love and everything in between.

Reason 4-

Bonding over books

You may run out of conversions but when dating a Bengali, you will never run out of addas about good books. Rabindranath, Bakim Chandra, and the depth of these stories. A Bengali always knows how to keep an Adda going.

Reason 5-

Jamming together is a thing in Kolkata. Be it late night house parties accompanied by good music and an in-house gang of guitarists and singers, or an open-air rock concert. Be it Mohiner Ghoraguli or Chandrabindu, or even Arjit Singh, the fun is only here in Kolkata!
