Remember, in our childhood, we used to sit together in the dark and talk about horror stories! Well, there are numerous places in India that are rumored to have paranormal activity. Kolkata also has such places, that we’ve heard since childhood. The interesting part is, we know these places and at some point in time, we all have visited them. Here, in this article, we’re going to talk about five horror places in our city –
Situated in BBD Bagh, this building was used for official purposes by the Britishers’ in the colonial period. This is where Binay Bose, Badal Gupta, and Dinesh Gupta, the Indian revolutionaries, shot the British officer, Colonel Simpson. It is said that people who’ve visited the place, heard sounds of footsteps in the part of the building where Simpson was shot dead. Till now that place is least visited.
This is Kolkata’s biggest library, located in Alipore. The guards often complained that they hear a female voice, screaming and sometimes howling. Some people believe that the people, who died there, while the building was being renovated in 2010, visit the place till now.
Located near Hari Ghosh Street, this place itself gives a spooky vibe, whoever visits there. Local people say that a woman, who was sexually assaulted by rich babus, still haunts the place.
Who doesn’t know Howrah Bridge? This is one of the main attractions of Kolkata. There have been several cases of suicide from that bridge. Those who’ve gone to the ghats in the early morning have listened to the voices of screaming. Some also claim to see a white shadow passing by.
This is most probably the only office in Kolkata which has a paranormal record. It is said to have been established upon a graveyard. Employees have reported that they’ve faced strange activities in the washroom. Apart from these, there are other places as well, which bears similar kind of stories.
