The Indian cricket team is one of the strongest cricket playing nations. Experts have always pointed out because of the domestic cricket tournaments we have never had a scarcity of getting good players among all formats. Ranji Trophy is considered the most prestigious among all domestic cricket leagues. Players have always to prove their best in this tournament to get noticed by national selectors. This year BCCI has declared that they are canceling the Ranji trophy for 2021! It is the first time in the history of the Ranji trophy that this tournament will be held.

BCCI has mailed all the state cricket boards that due to the heavy schedule, they are not getting any scope this year to make dates possible for arranging it. They have also stated that a meeting was organized with all the state cricket boards and in the meeting, they all agreed with BCCI. India – England test is will start from February and there will be IPL from April. So the time in between would not be enough. Although they won’t cancel other limited-overs formats like Vijay Hajare trophy ( 50 overs format) and Sayid Mushtaq Ali tournament (20-20 format)  going right now. They will be held as scheduled.

Some are thinking that BCCI has put interest in arranging IPL so that they negotiating it with RANJI. Either way, it is quite disheartening news because for the first time in 87 years it is going to be canceled.
