Activist Loud Plan to rising Animal Cruelty Fine! The authorities set a fine of Rs 75,000 for slapping street dogs, amends new law.

If a street dog is slapped, it will be jailed for 5 years and fined Rs 75,000. The authorities are going to bring such an amendment to the old law. According to the old law, if any animal is tortured or even killed, it can be released with a fine of only 50 rupees. The authorities want to bring a giant change in the 60-year-old law.

The draft of the new law mentions 3 sorts of violence. Minor injuries, damage to the body as a result of injuries, and death due to injuries. Injuries to animals can result in a penalty from Rs 650 to Rs 75,000. Even the perpetrator may pay a fine of 3 times the worth of the animal. The new amendment to the law also mentions the imprisonment of the offender if the animal dies.

The idea of reforming the present law began because the old law had no clear instructions on the degree of cruelty to animals. The amount of fine on him/her was so low that this kind of injustice could have been done easily. So, it seems to be an endeavor to form sure that no one can melt through the loopholes of the law and at the same time spread the drive of awareness a little more. Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Chandrasekhar came up with a proposal to amend the law.
