Bengalis can never get enough of Boipara and Coffee House. Nothing can match the experience of shopping for secondhand books in College Street and having a cup of “infusion” at Indian Coffee House.
We may love the new coffee house or hate it, but we can’t stop talking about it. It was inaugurated on Thursday, December 3. It covers 20 cottah and can accommodate up to 96 people. It is inspired by the classic, colonial-era architecture of the Indian Coffee House, with high ceilings and a broad podium.
Located just beside the Amity University, the new Coffee House also has a book and a souvenir shop. Its menu is the same as the Indian Coffee House. However, Bengalis are very critical of this new phenomenon. To the average Bengali, Coffee House is not really about architectural grandeur or for that matter, coffee! Coffee House is all about nostalgia, and of course, “Coffee House’er adda”. According to popular verdict, the new coffee house might be beautiful, but it can never replace the vibe the old Coffee House evokes.
What do you think of the new Coffee House?
