Yes, that time of the year again when the streets of the city would be filled with colors. Colors of life. Colors of love. Colors of eternity. Colors of joy. Sharing emotions with our closed one, sharing colors to everyone’s life. Red and Blue, Green and Yellow, Violet and pink, and myriads and myriads…

The colors that will wipe away all pain, all melancholy. And bring into the picture, unity in terms of diversity. Basanta Utsav is celebrated across the country as Holi, and in Bengal, we call it ‘Dol’. Our hero, Rabindranath Tagore was the initial patron of this Utsav, celebrating for the first time in Santiniketan.

 

The zeal to represent culture in variant forms like dance, music, poetry, street plays, and others is indeed the striking aspect that separates it from the mainstream festival of ‘Holi’. The fine line is difficult to trace but you certainly can if the immense fervor is integral to your heart, to your upbringing, and to your way of viewing life and its beauty. If you can embrace each of the colors as your own feelings, as a part of your life, you can thereby rise into remembering…
